In with the new...

Well, I am selling the '28 today. It's been trapped in the backyard for weeks, since the '35 is in the garage and I am so focused on getting it up and running. Here are some things I did to the Model A: I lowered it all around and replaced the 21" wire wheels with 16's off a '35 Ford. I also replaced the updraft with a finned Ansen downdraft intake and a Stromberg 97. I replaced the stock head with a Winfield 7:1 high compression head and an old Mallory dual point, mech. adv. distributor. It had a lightened flywheel and a slight bore. I replaced the stock exhaust manifold with a header from Red's, capped off with a glasspack header muffler.

I started the '35! After finding I had the distributor in 180' out, it fired right up and sounds awesome. All that's left to do is run the trans. cooler lines and figure out what I want to do for steering. It has a sbc stroker motor, TH350, and a 1958 Olds rearend.

Just picked up a sweet 1947 Harley flathead 45. Had been sitting for a while so I got it running and now it's my daily driver for the rest of the summer. It's a straightforward, period correct late-40's bobber and very fun to ride. The foot clutch and jockey shift were alien at first but now it's a comfy ride.

Out with the old...

I got rid of these two roadsters last year, can't remember why. One had a '49 8BA flatty with a '39 toploader 3 speed, the gold one had a 409 with a 3 speed automatic. I remember exactly why I got rid of the Chevy truck...airbags! Here's the story: I had just left the tattoo shop after 3 hours of tattooing on my back by Klem. I got to the intersection and wanted to go left but the truck wouldn't turn left! It aired down in the front because of a blown fitting and settled on some crucial steering parts. Luckily, I was able to check traffic, brake, and make a hard right. Scary. I pulled it to the side of the street, got some soapy water, found the problem and fixed it...on my freshly tattooed back on a hot asphalt street! I don't like airbags.
